
Bernd is an agronomist and an acknowledged leader in sustainability and socially responsible investments with over 20 years of experience in financial markets, business practices, and international public policy. Prior to EBG Capital, Bernd was Global Co-Head of Credit Suisse’s Environmental Business Group where he led implementation of the overall strategy and execution of the Environmental Business Group’s cleantech and natural resource investment strategies. Bernd played a key role securing Credit Suisse’s mandate for the Masdar Clean Tech Fund with Abu Dhabi and Siemens.
Until 2007, Bernd was Credit Suisse’s Global Head of Sustainability Affairs. He contributed as a Lead Author to the Chapter on “Impacts of Climate Change on Financial Services” of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Third Assessment Report. IPCC won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Prior to joining Credit Suisse Group in 1998, Bernd was the Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya and in Geneva, Switzerland. Bernd holds a Master in Agronomy (Dipl-ing. agr.) and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Hohenheim in Germany.
